An Ideal Location
Our little corner of paradise:
At Muritai Manor, you will return to a simpler era of splendid solid homes built from native timbers and surrounded with sprawling gardens full of oak trees, roses and camellias; as well as native trees such as the raffish New Zealand cabbage tree.
Guests of our fine old Nelson homestead accommodation enjoy memorable views across the sparkling waters of Nelson Haven, to the Boulder Bank and beyond to Tasman Bay with its backdrop of mountains.
From the moment you approach our driveway off the coastal main road, you’ll appreciate why, after travelling the world, we chose to call this place home. You’ll get your first glimpse of this magnificent old building through the trees, backing onto gentle hilly paddocks, sandwiched between sea and mountain ranges.
Set in ¾ acre of established gardens, with towering mature oaks, fruit trees and colorful climbing flowers, our secluded yet convenient location is one of our guests’ greatest pleasures. All our rooms benefit from garden, sea or mountain views as well as the large windows and high ceilings typical of the Edwardian style. Muritai Manor is a wonderful oasis, so close to the delights of Nelson city
Cross the road and you are at the water’s edge, perfect for an evening stroll along the water’s edge or boulder bank reserve. Watch the ever-changing light drift across the tidal flats, breath in the fresh sea air and watch the world go by. Or venture a little further and take a short drive to walk along secluded Cable Bay or golden Tahunanui Beach.
In the heat of the Summer, tangy sea breezes cool the house; on cold winter evenings, guests can enjoy a convivial glass of wine by a roaring fire. Enjoy our pool area, relax on the decking, take a dip in the hot tub spa and take a rest from the Nelson sunshine in the dappled shade of trees.
Walk up the path to our front door and receive a warm welcome from your hosts.
